Description

Ogun is a primordial orisha in Yoruba Land. In some traditions, he is said to have cleared a path for the other orisha to enter Earth.
Ogun is god of war and iron, the patron of places of natural disasters, also acts as a protector of the downtrodden, the patron of military conflicts and warriors. One of the sons of Obatala and Yemaya, rival and adversary of his brother Shango.
He is a blacksmith, a warrior, one who cuts all obstacles with his machete. All who use metal tools (such as mechanics, blacksmiths, butchers, hairdressers, etc.) are part of the Ogun realm. As a tool maker, Ogun is the patron of a wide range of human endeavors, from technology to surgery.
